Materials:
Paper (cardstock preferred)
Scissors
Tape
Straight Pin
Pencil with eraser
1. Print template out on desired paper, thicker paper works better. You may simply copy the template instead of printing it.
2. Cut on solid lines.
3. The circles represent the points that are to be folded (no creasing). Fold over each circle onto the center circle one at a time and tape it. Once you have done this 4 times, you will have a pinwheel shaped paper.
4. Pierce a sewing straight pin through the middle taking care to go through all 4 layers. Continue pushing the pin into a pencil eraser or another soft object such as a taper candle.

It helped me get her outside for a few minutes! Pin It Now!
Great idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking if you made them out of acetate or some sort of plastic then Megan could watch them spin in the next storm. Maybe even one of those plastic cutting boards that are super thin?
ReplyDeleteUsing some sort of plastic is a neat idea! I am going to scavange a bit and see what I can come up with, maybe recycle something in the house. Maybe I can use a small nail and dowel for the pole instead of a pencil and a piece of a drinking straw to act as a "washer" behind the pinwheel. Thanks for the idea.
